In June 2020, I was appointed as the Communications Director for the Associated Students External Vice President of Statewide Affairs. This role is extremely important as it represents all UCSB students on a state and federal level. In essence, it plays a more important role than any other position within A.S. since they work with other UC representatives to advocate for students. They coordinate with other leaders via UC Student Association to hold conventions, lobby officials, and campaigns.
Coming into this role, there was absolutely nothing to “take over” or transfer over. The previous EVPSA’s website was poorly designed and inaccessible, let alone failed to be updated properly. With everything being virtual due to COVID-19, this role required me to develop a valuable online presence with UCSB students to inform them of new opportunities, UC updates, resources, etc.
Trail blazed our office’s social media by conceptualizing a marketing strategy via redesigning the logo, developing a brand creative brief, and social media templates to increase channel growth and engagement with students
Engineered and integrated a fully mobile-optimized website to increase transparency and accessibility of information
Translated complex and coded language on various subject matters into accessible language for social media campaigns
Orchestrated the launch of a new virtual coalition, Know Your Props UCSB
